Coalition to offer free mobile health units in Rangeley, Phillips, Farmington

Healthy Community Coalition has announced its upcoming schedule of free mobile health unit events, through which a variety of health screenings and education will be offered at each location. Screenings offered include blood pressure and cholesterol checks and body composition analysis.

September’s schedule is as follows: Wednesday, Sept. 8, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Rangeley IGA, 2185 Main St. in Rangeley; and Wednesday, Sept. 15, 9 a.m. to noon, Edmunds Market, 1185 Rangeley Road in Phillips.

Staff also will be available to offer assistance with mammography and annual physical exam scheduling, as well as assistance to help cover related costs.

Mobile morgue units ready to help with COVID deaths

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The increasing number of COVID deaths in Alabama has created problems for south Alabama. The Alabama Department of Public Health has sent two mobile morgue units to Baldwin County and Mobile.

Alabama State Health Officer Dr. Scott Harris hoped there won’t be further needs for the mobile morgues in other parts of Alabama. South Alabama continues to see a large number of COVID positive cases, and that leads to more hospitalizations, and for some, more deaths.

The state has provided mobile COVID-19 testing and vaccine units to West Michigan counties to assist individuals with barriers to receiving services.

Mobile units have been sent to Kent and Muskegon counties for use by local health departments.
